When Tyson Fury battles Dillian Whyte in an all-British blockbuster world title fight tonight at Wembley Stadium, he’ll be looking to solidify his spot as the finest heavyweight on the globe.
After much drama in the build-up, the spotlight will finally be on the action inside the ring, as Whyte will attempt to stun the boxing world in front of 94,000 spectators.
Fury, who has a 31-0 record with 22 knockouts, has promised fans “a genuine war” when he defends his WBC heavyweight championship in what will be his first fight in the UK in almost three years.
As Whyte finally gets a shot at a world championship, Fury’s WBC and Ring Magazine belts will be on the line, allowing the undefeated champion to move on from the Deontay Wilder trilogy that has captivated him in recent years.
Fury’s most recent bout came in October of last year, while Whyte hasn’t fought since avenging his defeat to Alexander Povetkin more than a year ago.
Due to the lack of a rematch clause in the contract, the winner may be in line for an undisputed contest. The other heavyweight belts are presently held by Oleksandr Usyk, who is set to defend them against Anthony Joshua in July.
