Main event Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron
TV : Sky Sports
Today, Liam Cameron and Ben Whittaker made weight for their rematch, which will take place on April 20 at the BP Pulse in Birmingham. The event will be carried live on Sky Sports. The fight begins at around 7:00 pm. The event’s ring walk will take place at around 10 pm.
In October, Whittaker and Cameron fought to a six-round draw after they fell from the ring during the sixth round in Riyadh. The fight was stopped after the Olympic silver medalist was unable to continue due to an injury. It went to the scorecards.
Cameron was able to expose Whittaker completely during the fight, which highlighted how difficult it can be for former amateur athletes to make the transition to the professional ranks. Even if Whittaker won the rematch, it’s clear that he won’t be able to achieve the success he had in the amateurs. He will still be able to make a good living as a professional fighter, similar to the achievements of Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.
Many people believed that Whittaker was feigning his injury in order to get a draw against Cameron, who was a veteran with a record of 23 wins and 10 knockouts. With the way he was getting beaten by Cameron, it looked like he was on the verge of getting knocked out.
