The pots for the group stage of the Champions League were finalized after FC Copenhagen, PSV Eindhoven, and Antwerp secured their places in the competition.
The group stage draw is the last event that takes place before the revamped UCL begins next season. It features 36 teams.
As titleholders, Manchester City will be in Pot 1 along with Europa League winner Sevilla. The other pots are made up of the top six leagues and Feyenoord, while the Eredivisie champions will be in Pot 3, as Pep’s team won the Premier League title.
For the group stage, the pots are based on the five-year coefficient score of UEFA. Newcastle United, who will be making their European debut, is in Pot 4. They could potentially face a tough group consisting of AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
The group stage draw will take place on Thursday, September 19, at 5 pm UK time. The first games are scheduled to be played on September 20 and 19.
Each group will have one team from each pot. The teams from the same country cannot be placed in the same group.
Wembley Stadium will host the final of the Champions League football tournament on June 1.
